Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1.5 sticks salted butter, melted (3/4 cup or 170 grams)
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup confectioners sugar (for topping)
  • Additional 1/4 cup flour (for rolling out)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Combine sugar and butter using a hand mixer until fluffy.
  3. Add baking powder, egg, maple syrup, vanilla, almond extract, and cinnamon. Blend well.
  4. Gradually add flour, mixing about ½ cup at a time.
  5. Use your hands to form dough, then roll it out.
  6. Cut shapes with a cookie cutter or form moons by hand.
  7. Place cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake on the center rack for 9 minutes.
  9. Let cool on the sheet briefly before transferring to a rack.
  10. Once fully cooled, dust with confectioners sugar.
