Cheesy Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes combine seasoned ground beef with a rich tomato sauce, melted cheddar and mozzarella, all piled on top of crispy toasted garlic bread. This is a quick, satisfying meal that works for weeknight dinners or casual gatherings.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices of garlic bread, toasted
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to come together.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses over the beef mixture. Stir until the cheese is fully melted and incorporated.
  5. Brush the toasted garlic bread slices with melted butter. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture over each slice. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Toast your garlic bread until it is firm enough to hold the beef mixture without getting soggy.
  • You can swap ground beef for ground turkey if you prefer a leaner option.
  • Skip the red pepper flakes if you are serving this to kids or anyone who prefers a milder flavor.
  • Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting compared to pre-packaged shredded cheese.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat the beef mixture separately and spoon over fresh toasted bread.
